Members please mark your calendars to attend the special bonus meeting on Feb 03 as we prepare for the Peanut Island DXpedition. At this meeting, we'll be working on station operating procedures, manpower requirements, detailing operating frequencies and filters.

CQ DX, CQ DX de W4K!   JTRG will be conducting a DXpedition and activating a US Island (FL479S) from within the cold-war bomb shelter built for President John F. Kennedy on Peanut Island!

Buried underground and encased by lead, concrete and rebar, the DX operating stations will be positioned inside the bunker. However, much like the communications prior to the threat of a nuclear attack, we'll be reaching out to the world as W4K!  In addition the bunker, we'll also operate from the Coast Guard Museum and boat house as well.

Island amenities include camping, picnic tables, restrooms, showers, snorkeling and boat docks. If you're without water transportation, not to worry, there's a ferry service available. All in all, it should make for a RADIOactive weekend - pun intended, HI HI!

The event will take place May 29th and 30th of 2010, so we'll be posting additional information as we get near. In the meantime, you can get plenty of additional information about the operating site from the following links:
